Who We Are

Connecting People to People.

We began in 1956 as a creative force for international cooperation and goodwill.  Our participation  started in 1965 as the Albuquerque Sister Cities Committee and became the Albuquerque Sister Cities Foundation in 1983. We are a 501(c)(3) (non-profit) corporation. A part of the Albuquerque Economic Development Department, we serve to implement the city ordinance requiring “the promotion and encouragement of private and public programs to further the development of greater friendship and understanding between the people of Albuquerque and cities of other nations.”

We believe that by building the proper cultural bridges to our sister cities, other important connections can be achieved in the areas of education and business that ultimately work together to create strong, vibrant relationships with our “sisters.” Barriers come down, life-long friendships are created, and the goal of promoting lasting world peace is furthered. We are a membership-based organization involving youth to seniors, your involvement is not only welcome but needed. There’s plenty of fun things to do–from potlucks, trips, cultural celebrations, concerts, international teas, seminars, and the like. See you at the next event!
